the nude bouquet and how to dress it ….

by Sharon Santoni
When I saw these nearly nude roses and raunonculas at the florists yesterday, I just knew they had to come home with me.
Their colour is so delicate and discreet that it could be happily blended into many styles of bouquet, and actually as I look at these pictures, I can’t help but think that the flowers are at their prettiest still wrapped and waiting in an old zinc jug  …. hmmm ….
Needing a larger bouquet,  I decided to set them alongside some pale narcissus, (should that be narcissi?!) and some mahonia and a little Powys Castle grey thing whose proper name escapes me.

The resulting bouquet is brightening my room this weekend; but it is not impossible that next week I return to the florist for some more nude roses …. to try another way.

Hope that you are enjoying a fragrant and happy weekend, thank you for reading me!

I enjoy your blog and as always, this is lovely!
I believe the gray plant is called artemesia. Also, I've been told that narcissus/daffodils excrete a sap that can be toxic to other flowers & you must be careful using them in mixed bouquets as they can possibly kill the other flowers.

Sharon, what a beautiful arrangement, but it's true daffodils will kill other flowers, it's the sap that does it. So as lovely as the arrangement looks, take out the daffs before it kills the roses. One advantage you will have another bouquet in another room. Enjoy looking at your beautiful roses.
Enjoy your weekend.

Your end-product is beautiful and speaks of the spring weather that hopefully is about to nudge the winter blues away. Bon weekend

I have heard that about daffodils too. Barbara and I are on the same page.
Your arrangement does look lovely. I think the pale nude shades are so elegant

Gorgeous bouquet as usual. You are so inspiring with you wonderful flower mixes.
Did you know that artemisia, commonly known as wormwood,is the plant that absinthe is made from?
Something to think about next time you're pottering in the garden 🙂

Another bouquet de jour!! I have always been brought up with the notion – don't mix bulb and shrubs in a vase! Guess it's better to safe than sorry! I'm going to look out for that nude rose with the growers here for when this place gets rebuilt. It's a good opportunity to do redo the garden as well. Thanks for the continuing inspiration!

Glad the narcissi have to go because I think their shape and colour detracts from the subtlety of the other parts of the bouquet! Here the spring flowers are peeping out of the snow again. Ugh.
